Full description
The Isla de Lobos mini cruise
An hour and a quarter on the Celia Cruz, a 20-metre catamaran with 16 underwater viewing windows along the hull. The crew feed the fish while you are looking through them, which is the moment the shoals turn up, and the boat then anchors off Isla de Lobos for about 30 minutes so you can snorkel or swim in the clear water.
One drink is included, and masks and snorkels are on board.
The access permit
The cruise itself does not need one, but if you go ashore on Isla de Lobos, either before or after, you need an official authorisation for the natural park. It is free and you apply for it yourself at lobospass.com.
Three ways to do it
The cruise itself always runs 12:45 to 14:00. What changes is what you do around it.
Take the 9:45 or 11:00 ferry, spend the morning walking on Lobos, and be at the islet's jetty at 12:45 to join the cruise. At 14:00 you can go ashore again or head straight back to Corralejo.
Or board the cruise directly at 12:30 in Corralejo, and at 14:00 go ashore to visit the islet, returning on one of the scheduled ferries.
Or simply do the cruise and go back to Corralejo without landing.
The price
28 euros for adults and 18 for children for the cruise on its own. With a hotel coach it is 42 euros from Caleta de Fuste, El Cotillo, Origomare and Lajares, or 37 from Corralejo. Babies only pay if they take a seat on the bus.
The coach runs on set days depending on the zone: Caleta de Fuste on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, El Cotillo, Origomare and Lajares on Wednesday, Corralejo on Monday and Wednesday.

Snorkelling in water that blue stays with you, and the team were friendly and looking out for us the whole time. One of the good ones.
The scenery out there is remarkable and the boat is comfortable. The snorkelling is enjoyable, though it does not last long. We had a mix-up with our reservation and the staff went out of their way to sort it.
A good day out: the meeting point was easy to find, the timings were kept, and the snorkelling from the boat off Lobos was worth it. The whole family got something out of it, at a fair price.
Sorting the island permit gave us no trouble, and at the quay the people were helpful and boarding was quick. Plenty of fun on the water and the time ashore was well spent; nobody is stationed on the island to check you in, but the boat back left punctually. I would travel with them again.
Leaving the port at Corralejo went smoothly, but the sea was rolling hard that particular day. Getting off at Lobos was no easy matter, and without the crew helping it would have been hard work.
A lovely boat, with glass set into the floor and fish drifting past below it. We picked this outing because as well as dropping you at Lobos it takes you snorkelling in striking water and includes a soft drink. The instructors were kind and good company.
Comfortable ride over to Lobos, plenty of fun the whole way, and the people running it were good with us from start to finish.
The lads on board were lovely. You get a decent stretch to walk the island on your own, and if you have the snorkelling option they collect you, show you the coast from the water and then hand you a drink that comes with it. Well worth doing.
