Five hours across the north of Fuerteventura on a Monday, built around one thing the island does not advertise loudly: it makes wine.

The route leaves Caleta de Fuste on the inland road through Tindaya, stops at El Cotillo for a walk by the sea and the Torre del Tostón with entry included, and then reaches Bodegas Conatvs for a guided walk through the vineyard and cellar.

The tasting

Two wines, and with them the things the island actually eats: extra virgin olive oil, semi-cured Maxorata cheese, sweet gofio, bread and olives. It is a tasting rather than a lunch, which is worth knowing before you skip breakfast.
