Full description
The Abrazo catamaran in Tenerife: whale watching from Costa Adeje
The Abrazo is a 14-metre catamaran that sails from Puerto Colón in Costa Adeje for whale and dolphin watching off the south coast of Tenerife. It carries up to 12 guests, so the boat stays calm and personal. A glass section in the floor lets you watch the water below, and a hydrophone on board picks up the whales as they communicate underwater.
What the tour is like
You sail past the coast looking for whales and dolphins, then anchor in a sheltered bay for snorkelling and swimming. The crew hands out snorkel gear, and there is both a sunbathing area and a shaded area on deck. Snacks and free drinks are served while you sail: canapés, fresh fruit, water, soft drinks, beer and white wine. There is a toilet on board and a Bluetooth music system.
Shared trips and private charters
Shared tours run daily at various times, with sunset sailings on select summer dates. You can also hire the catamaran privately. Private charters run 3 hours (whale watching and anchoring in a bay), 5 to 6 hours or 7 to 8 hours, with routes that can include whale watching and a stop at Masca. Private charters can add extra catering, such as seafood paella, for an extra cost.
Departure point and what to bring
Trips leave from Puerto Colón in Costa Adeje. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before departure. Bring swimwear, a towel and sunscreen. It helps to eat beforehand and avoid alcohol before boarding to reduce the risk of seasickness. The crew speaks several languages.
Who it suits and booking
The trip is adults only, with a minimum age of 18, and suits couples and groups who want a relaxed day on the water. For safety, it is not suitable for anyone with mobility limitations, neck or back problems, or a recent surgery. Booking ahead is recommended because the tour is popular. Cancellation is free up to 5 days before a shared trip and up to 20 days before a private charter, and the deadline shown when you book is the one that cancellation terms.

Write a reviewReally enjoyed the catamaran trip, spotting those dolphins was so cool up close. The swim in the bay felt refreshing, water clear as anything. Worth every penny.
Man the dolphins were so playful, swimming right by the boat it was cool. Then jumping in for a swim felt great in that warm water. Good times on the catamaran
The Abrazo catamaran was great, man those dolphins were awesome upclose. The ride was smooth and fun, yeah worth it. 😊
The catamaran was really smooth and stable even with some waves. Snorkeling in that clear bay was pretty good, saw some fish. The crew was friendly too.
The sunset from the boat was just wow. Really pretty colours in the sky. And seeing the pilot whales around at that time was class.
Seeing the pilot whales was cool, but the stop for a swim in the bay afterward was so rereshing. Def worth it.
This tour was amazing, we so the pilot whales right next to us 😍😍
This Boat tour was amazing, really enjoyed it!!
Took the 3-hour Abrazo trip and was totally blown away! Only 12 people max so it felt super intimate and private, which was great
Great catamaran experience with Abrazo! The small group of just 12 people made it feel personal and relaxed..
The hydrophone was awesome, hearing the whales was an experience. The boat wasn't packed either which was nice, very chill atmosphere.
Max 12 people on board. It was so much better than the big crowded boats. Really nice atmosphere.
