Teide quad safari: a guided volcano ride in Tenerife
A Teide quad safari is a 3-hour guided ride up towards Teide National Park on a fully automatic quad bike. You start from Chío or Guía de Isora in west Tenerife and climb winding roads through pine forests and lava fields, stopping at viewpoints along the way. The quads are automatic and easy to handle, so first-timers and experienced riders both feel comfortable, and every tour starts with a safety briefing.
What the quad tour is like
You ride in a small group behind a multilingual guide, with several stops for photos and to hear about the geology and history of the island. There are two options: a morning tour and a sunset tour timed for the light behind Mount Teide. Both last about three hours. Off-road riding is not allowed, so you stay on the road throughout.
What is included
The price covers the automatic quad, a guide, and the full safety briefing. You get a helmet and gloves, and basic insurance is included, with full coverage available as an option. Hotel pickup and drop-off from South Tenerife is included on both the morning and sunset tours. Optional extras such as a professional photo package can be added on the day.
Who can ride
Drivers must be 18 or older and hold a valid driving licence. If you turn up without one, the quad cannot be used and no refund is given. Passengers can join from age 7. The activity is not suitable during pregnancy or for anyone with certain medical conditions, so check in advance if you are unsure. Wear comfortable clothes and closed shoes, and bring a jacket in colder months.
Booking and cancellation
Booking ahead is recommended because groups are small and sunset tours sell out quickly. You choose your pickup point during booking. You can cancel free of charge up to 48 hours before the tour. For bookings of four or more quads, cancellations need at least four days' notice, and no-shows are non-refundable.

I wanted to thank the quad excursions team for the lovely experience we had today on the quads with my husband and my daughter. Everything perfect, kindness and friendliness. They came to pick us up and dropped us back at the hotel right on time. We arrived at the meeting point, were briefed and set off towards the Teide volcano on the quads, with stops and explanations along the way. Unique landscapes.
