Water sports in Tenerife

The south coast of Tenerife is sheltered from the trade winds, so the sea stays calm for most of the year. That makes it a reliable base for water sports such as jet ski safaris and scuba diving, all within a short drive of Costa Adeje, Playa de las Américas, and Los Cristianos. Jet ski tours

Tenerife now has three separate jet ski safari pages: Costa Adeje from Puerto Colón with 40 min, 1H, 2H and 3H tours, Las Galletas from Marina del Sur with 1H and 2H tours plus pickup, and Radazul on the east coast with 30, 40, 60 and 80 min tours. No licence or experience is needed for the guided safari format, and every trip starts with a safety briefing. You need to be at least 16 to drive on most options. If you would rather ride a marked course, the jet ski circuit is the other option.

Kayaking and snorkelling with turtles

Kayaking trips leave from the sheltered bays near Los Cristianos and La Caleta, where sea turtles feed close to shore. The water there is shallow and clear, so most trips include a snorkelling stop. The pace is easy and no experience is needed.

Scuba diving

Tenerife's volcanic coastline drops away quickly, which creates reef walls and good visibility close to shore. Our guided dives and try-dives suit both first-timers and certified divers, and the Open Water certification course takes you from no experience to a recognised diving qualification over a few days.

Parasailing and towables

For something faster, parasailing lifts you above the bay under a parachute towed behind a boat, with views along the south coast. The banana boat, flyfish, and Crazy UFO are towed rides built for groups, and they work well for families and parties.

Where. Most activities run from the marinas and beaches of the south: Puerto Colón (Costa Adeje), Las Galletas, and Los Cristianos. Hotel pickup is included on some tours and is noted on each activity page.

Who can take part. Minimum ages vary by activity (jet ski drivers from 16, passengers from 7). You should be comfortable in the water for any sea-based activity.

What to bring. Swimwear, a towel, and sunscreen. Everything technical, such as life jackets and diving gear, is provided.
