Full description
Diving in Radazul, Tenerife: your first dive
Radazul sits on the east coast of Tenerife, in El Rosario, between Santa Cruz and Candelaria. It is a different side of the island from the dive centres in Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje, and the water here is normally calmer and clearer, which is why beginners start at the beach in Radazul, a few minutes from the centre's own marina.
The centre is a PADI 5 Star dive centre, the highest rating PADI gives, which covers training standards, safety and service. It runs its own Zodiac out to the dive sites along the east coast.
The Discover Scuba Diver
No licence and no experience needed. You start in shallow water learning how the equipment works and what the hand signals mean, then a PADI professional takes you down to a maximum of six metres. The Standard runs about three hours in total and includes one supervised dive. The Plus runs about five hours and adds a second dive, normally reached by Zodiac when the weather and the logistics allow, with a minimum of two people.
Both come with a photo report and a video of your dive at no extra cost. The minimum age is ten.
Conditions
The sea off Radazul holds twenty to twenty-five degrees all year, so there is no closed season and the wetsuit that is included is enough. Try dives run Tuesday to Sunday in the mornings, with afternoon sessions on request, and there is free parking at the centre.
Coming with a certified diver
A diver who already holds a licence can join your try dive as a companion, added when booking. If they would rather dive on their own level, the same centre runs guided dives at Radazul for certified divers, with a wreck and more than twenty-five sites.
If you want to keep diving
The try dive is the first step towards the certificate. The PADI Open Water and Advanced courses at Radazul take three to four days for the Open Water, with four dives in the sea and all equipment included.
