Full description

By catamaran to Papagayo

Four hours on a sailing catamaran from Puerto del Carmen to the Papagayo coast, in the south of Lanzarote, with a long stop at anchor to swim, kayak and snorkel, paella cooked on board and an open bar.

The trip

The catamaran leaves the quay in Puerto del Carmen at 11:00, Monday to Saturday. A mojito and a tapa of papas arrugadas with mojo are waiting when you board. It follows the coast south, past Puerto Calero and the volcanoes, and anchors near Punta de Papagayo at about 12:00, with the beaches of Papagayo in front of you.

At anchor

Kayaks, snorkelling gear and inflatable mattresses are on board. Swim from the boat, paddle along the coast, or stay on deck in the sun. At 13:00 the crew serve paella or pasta, made on board, with fresh fruit. Draught beer, sangria, water and soft drinks are included for the whole trip.

The catamaran leaves Papagayo at 14:00 and is back in Puerto del Carmen at about 15:00.

With or without the coach

Book it with pick-up and a coach collects you at the stop nearest your hotel and takes you back afterwards. Book it without and meet the boat on the quay, Av. del Varadero 30, 20 minutes before departure. Pick-up cannot be guaranteed for bookings made less than 24 hours ahead.

Worth knowing

The trip is sold as I Love Papagayo and sailed on the Princess Cat, a 24-metre catamaran. The guide speaks Spanish, English, German or French. Bring swimwear, a towel, sun protection, a hat and beach shoes.
