Dolphin watching from Puerto del Carmen

Dolphin watching in Lanzarote from Puerto del Carmen marina, aboard the Biosfera Jet, a fast boat for up to 50 people. Two ways to go: a 1.5-hour mini cruise at midday with a swim, or a 2.5-hour cruise at sunset with champagne and pastries and a coach from your accommodation.

The mini cruise

Out of the marina at 12:00, Monday to Saturday. After a short safety briefing the boat follows the coast of Lanzarote while the crew look for dolphins, whales and other cetaceans, with binoculars on board and commentary on each species. There is a stop for a swim before heading back.

The sunset cruise

A coach collects you from your accommodation in the late afternoon and takes you to the old harbour at Puerto del Carmen. The same boat goes out looking for dolphins and whales, and then stops for the sunset over the sea with a glass of champagne and pastries. The coach is waiting when you come back in. The time follows the season, between 16:00 and 18:00, and the booking panel shows it for your date.

On board

The Biosfera Jet is an 11.7-metre fast boat for up to 50 passengers, with panoramic views of the coast on the way out. Bring swimwear, a towel and sun cream, and something warm in winter: out at sea it feels colder.

Getting there

For the mini cruise, check in at the office by the roundabout at the entrance to the Varadero car park at least 15 minutes before departure. The boat leaves on time. Parking next to the marina is free.
