Full description

Isla de Lobos, from Lanzarote

Isla de Lobos is the small volcanic island between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, a natural park with clear water and quiet paths. Every option starts with the ferry from Playa Blanca to Corralejo, in the north of Fuerteventura, about 30 minutes across. From there you choose how to reach Lobos.

A free day with the water taxi

A water taxi crosses El Río, the strait between Fuerteventura and Lobos, to El Muelle, in the south of the island. Walk the paths across the islet, or stay by the calm, clear water of La Concha beach. Water taxis go over at 11:00 or 12:30 (from July to September also at 10:45, 11:15 and 13:30) and come back at 14:00 or 16:15, and the rest of the day you are free in Corralejo.

On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays this day comes with a coach from your hotel in Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen, Arrecife or Costa Teguise, the 9:30 ferry out and the 17:30 ferry back. Without the coach, it runs every day from the 9:30 ferry.

By catamaran, with a guided walk

A catamaran takes you from Corralejo across El Río, past the crater of Montaña de la Caldera, and anchors near La Concha. The group splits in two of about ten people: one goes ashore by boat for a guided walk past the lagoons and the old fishing village, while the other stays on board to snorkel, kayak and paddle board, with paella and soft drinks, beer and wine. Then the groups swap. After about four hours you are back in Corralejo, with free time until the 17:30 ferry. Book this option at least four days ahead.

The mini cruise

The mini cruise leaves Corralejo at 13:15, runs along Lobos for about 15 minutes and anchors off La Concha for 50 minutes: swim, snorkel, or go down the slide at the stern. The bow is an adults-only area. A drink and snorkelling gear are included. You then have time ashore on Lobos, with the boat back at 15:15, 16:15 or 17:30, and the ferry to Playa Blanca at 17:30 or 19:30.

Worth knowing

Going ashore on Lobos needs a free access permit: apply at lobospass.com before the day you travel. Bring a valid passport for the ferry, water for the day, and walking shoes.
