Jet ski safari from Pasito Blanco

An hour on the south coast of Gran Canaria, riding your own machine with a licensed guide leading the route.

The route

Out of Pasito Blanco and along the south coast, which from the water is a wall of cliff and cove that the road never gets near. The hour is spent working along it and putting in at the beaches around it, rather than circling one bay.

Then the coast opens out and the dunes of Maspalomas come into view. Seen from the sea they read as what they are, a desert that runs into the Atlantic, and that is the part people come back talking about.

Riding it

You ride alone from 18. At 16 or 17 an adult has to be on the jet ski with you, plus written authorisation from a parent or guardian and that person's ID. No experience is needed: you get the safety briefing, how to handle the machine, and the life jacket before you start. You can ride alone or take a passenger.

The hour covers the jet ski, the guide, insurance, the life jacket and a locker. Photos and video are sold separately when they are shooting that day.

The jet ski outing was the best part of my trip. Picking up speed on the ocean gives a feeling of freedom that is hard to put into words, and the coast looks superb from the water. The machines are new and responsive but stay steady, even with two riders.

Amazing session on the jet skis. Jonny and Cristian were friendly and professional, and if we come back to the island we will do it again.

My thirteen-year-old son and I shared a jet ski and swapped over as driver, and we both loved it. The machines looked new and ran well. We followed the instructors in their boat, but with enough space between us we could ride fairly freely, and my son found it wildly good fun.
