Tour highlights

Two hours looking for cetaceansOut along the south-west coast of Gran Canaria, where turtles, flying fish and whales crossing the Atlantic all turn up.
If nothing shows, you come back freeThe operator hands you a ticket to repeat the trip if no cetacean is sighted. That is unusual and it is the reason to pick this boat.
Two hours or four, same boatThe short trip is the cetacean search and a drink. The long one carries on down the coast, anchors, and feeds you.
Lunch and an open bar on the four-hour tripA proper meal from the galley and drinks that keep coming, both in the ticket price.
The long trip anchors so you can swimThe boat stops for a bathe in open water, with snorkelling to see the bottom.
The banana boat is included on the four hoursEveryone on board gets a ride at the end of the anchoring stop. It is in the price, not an upsell.
Sea caves and cliffsThe four hours cover the south-west coast: caves, big cliffs and beaches you cannot walk to.
Daily departuresEvery day of the week from Puerto Rico, with the boat berthed at Puerto Base.

Full description

Dolphin watching on the Supercat

Out of Puerto Rico on a large catamaran, working the south-west coast of Gran Canaria where the water drops away quickly. Turtles, flying fish and whales crossing the Atlantic all pass through here.

Same boat, two trips. Pick the one that fits the day.

Two hours, 38 euros

The cetacean search and back. 38 euros for adults, 25 for children from 2 to 12, under-2s free, and a drink from the bar comes with the ticket. It is the short version and it is the one most people take.

Four hours, 64 euros

It starts the same way, then carries on down the coast past sea caves, cliffs and beaches with no road to them. Then the anchor goes down and the rest of it is yours: swimming and snorkelling, other water sports sold on board cheaper than ashore, and at the end of the stop everyone gets a banana boat ride. Lunch and an open bar are in the price. 64 euros for adults, 40 for children from 2 to 12.

The bit that matters

Nobody can promise you a dolphin. What this operator does instead is hand you a ticket to come back and do the trip again free if the crossing produces no cetacean at all. That is a real commitment and it is the reason to choose this boat over one that simply hopes.

Departures are daily on both trips, and the boat is berthed at Puerto Base in Puerto Rico.

Jul 2026

Hardly any time passed after we left port before dolphins were alongside us. The crew were warm and kept everyone entertained, and I would happily go again and pass the tip on.

May 2026

Decent trip and the food was fine, though we were led to expect dolphins and none showed up that day. The staff were pleasant enough. Worth doing, but do not count on a sighting.

Apr 2026

Took the longer trip and it delivered: dolphins first, then the water sports later on, with staff who were friendly and quick to help.

Mar 2026

Brilliant day out with Domingo and his crew. Plenty of dolphins early on, and afterwards we carried on along the coast.

Jan 2026

Really good outing. Two different kinds of dolphin came past, along with flying fish, and I would tell anyone to go.

Dec 2025

First time out there were no dolphins at all, so they gave us a free repeat the following day and we counted well over a hundred, along with flying fish.

Nov 2025

The big catamaran gave us our best day out. Dolphins in numbers, a crew who could not have been friendlier, and the music on board was good as well.

May 2025

Nice food and drink, and clean toilets and facilities. The one warning is the swell, which can be lively even on a calm day, so it is not for anyone unsteady on their feet. We saw dolphins, swam in the sea, had plenty of water sports to choose from, and a crew who kept us entertained.
