Scuba diving in Tenerife from Los Cristianos

Diving in Tenerife runs every day from Los Cristianos on the south coast, in clear, warm water with good visibility. The first dive needs no licence and no experience, so it suits complete beginners. All equipment is provided, and an instructor stays with you throughout. If you already hold a licence, the guided dives for certified divers leave from the same place.

What the dives are like

There are four options, all try dives that need no licence and no experience: 20 or 40 minutes underwater, either from the shore at Playa de los Cristianos or by boat out to a site further along the coast. You go down to about 8 metres with an instructor beside you throughout.

Marine life and conditions

Water temperature sits between 18 and 25°C through the year, and visibility is usually 15 to 30 metres. On a dive you can see rays, turtles, octopuses, moray eels, barracudas and many kinds of fish. Summer is the best time, but diving runs year-round.

What is included and getting there

The price covers full diving equipment (wetsuit, mask, fins and tank), a guided dive with experienced instructors, and lockers for your belongings. Guides speak English and Spanish. A pick-up and drop-off service is available for a small extra fee, which you choose during booking. If you have your own gear, you are welcome to bring it.

Diving is suitable from age 8, and children aged 8 to 11 dive with an adult. You should be able to swim and be comfortable in water. Diving is not suitable during pregnancy, and divers over 65 should check before booking. Bring a swimsuit and flip-flops, and you can bring an underwater camera at your own risk. If your first dive goes well, you can go on to a full scuba diving open water course in Tenerife.

Man, diving in Tenerife was so fun. Got to see this huge school of fish and a ray just chilling on the bottom. The water felt perfect, made the whole thing enjoyable.
