La Gomera bus tour: a full-day trip from Tenerife
The La Gomera bus tour is a full-day trip from Tenerife to the neighbouring island of La Gomera. The day runs around 10 hours from hotel pickup to drop-off, and includes the return Fred Olsen ferry across to San Sebastian de La Gomera. A guide leads the group, and you visit Garajonay National Park, see a live Silbo Gomero demonstration and stop for a traditional Canarian lunch. The tour runs Monday to Saturday.
What the day includes
You are collected from your hotel in Tenerife and taken to the ferry port for the crossing to San Sebastian de La Gomera. On the island you tour Garajonay National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site with one of the last surviving laurel forests. The route also takes in the village of Agulo, with its views towards El Teide, and the island capital of San Sebastian, where Christopher Columbus stopped before crossing the Atlantic. You get some free time in San Sebastian to walk the old streets on your own.
Lunch and the whistled language
Lunch is a traditional Gomeran meal at Restaurante Las Rosas, included in the price. During the day you also see a live demonstration of Silbo Gomero, the whistled language used to communicate across the island's deep valleys. It is recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage.
Getting there and hotel pickup
The price includes round-trip hotel pickup and drop-off and return Fred Olsen ferry tickets, so you travel from your hotel door to La Gomera and back without arranging transport yourself. You choose your pickup point during booking. You must bring a valid passport or original valid ID to board the ferry: without it you cannot travel and no refund is given.
Booking and cancellation
The tour is led by a guide working in English, Spanish, German and French. You can cancel free of charge up to 48 hours before departure for a full refund, or up to 72 hours before for groups of more than 4 people. No-shows and cancellations after departure time are charged in full. Group discounts are available. You can book online with CanaryVIP.
