Banana boat rides in Tenerife from Puerto Colón

A banana boat ride is a short, fast water sport on the south coast of Tenerife, and it runs every day from Puerto Colón in Costa Adeje. You sit on an inflatable banana while a speedboat tows you across the waves. It suits families and groups, and no swimming experience is needed because every rider wears a life jacket.

What the ride is like

You meet the guides at the marina for a quick safety briefing, then climb aboard the inflatable banana and hold on. The speedboat pulls you along the coast, with dips and bumps as it turns through the water. Each ride lasts about 10 minutes, and up to 12 people can ride at once.

Where it leaves from

Rides depart from Puerto Colón in Costa Adeje. You make your own way to the marina to meet the guides. Other water sports run from the same harbour, including jet ski Tenerife, parasailing Tenerife and whale watching tours.

Who can ride

The ride is open from age 10, and riders under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. There is no upper age limit. You should be ready for a physical ride with plenty of splashing. No swimming skills are required, since everyone wears a life jacket. The activity is not suitable during pregnancy. Wear swimwear, bring a towel and sunscreen, and leave shoes and loose items in the secure storage boxes at the dock.
