This quad tour runs from Puerto de la Cruz and shows you the green, volcanic side of North Tenerife that most visitors miss. It is run by a local operator who focuses only on guided quad tours in the north. You can pick between two routes: a scenic on-road ride towards Teide, or an off-road adventure with a real dirt-track section. The quads are automatic and easy to handle, so the tour works for first-timers as well as confident riders.

Two routes to choose from

The Teide Quad Tour is a 100 percent on-road route of around 3 hours. It starts in Puerto de la Cruz, passes through the historic centre of La Orotava, then climbs winding mountain roads through pine forest and old lava flows. You stop at the Roque Bermejo viewpoint, often above a sea of clouds, and reach Corral del Niño (Izaña) at around 2,300 metres, with open views over Teide National Park. Morning departures keep it quiet.

The off-road adventure is around 2.5 hours and is the more active option. From Puerto de la Cruz it crosses the municipality towards hidden beaches and the historic town of Los Realejos, then runs a 30-minute off-road circuit on dirt tracks and rocky paths. The route finishes at the Mirador de El Lance, about 800 metres up, with panoramic views over the Valle de La Orotava.

What is included

Every tour includes the quad for the full duration, a professional guide with a safety briefing and route explanations, and stops at the main viewpoints. A local snack and a cold drink at a viewpoint stop are included on both routes. Hotel pick-up and drop-off is not included, so you make your own way to the start point in Puerto de la Cruz.

Who can ride and what to know

Drivers must be at least 18 and hold a valid driving licence: without it you cannot ride and no refund is given, so bring it with you. Passengers can join from age 7. The total weight per quad must not exceed 175 kg. The tour is not recommended during pregnancy or for anyone with serious back or mobility issues. Wear closed shoes and bring a light jacket, as it gets cooler at the higher viewpoints.
