Full description

Private yacht charter in Tenerife from Puerto Colón

Pampano is a 12-metre private yacht based at Puerto Colón, in Costa Adeje. It carries a maximum of 8 guests and sails 3 to 8 hours a day, always as a full private charter. There is no shared deck and no fixed departure timetable: you agree the start time with the crew when you book. Food, drinks, paddle boards and snorkel gear are included in every charter length.

What is included

Every Pampano charter comes with the same core inclusions, whatever length you book: unlimited soft drinks, beer, wine and cava; snacks on the shorter trips and a full meal on the longer ones; stand-up paddle boards; snorkel masks and gear; and a Bluetooth sound system you control from your own phone. The crew is multilingual and based in Costa Adeje year round.

The deck is split between an open sunbathing area at the bow and a shaded lounge at the stern, which matters more than it sounds when the charter runs past midday and the wind drops.

3, 6 or 8 hours: which to book

The three standard lengths are not interchangeable, and the sailing time decides it rather than the marketing.

3 hours. Puerto Colón to La Caleta and the Armeñime coast, with a swim stop in a sheltered bay and drinks on board. The right length if you want a short private trip and to be back for dinner. It does not reach Los Gigantes: the cliffs are around two hours away in each direction.

6 hours. The standard Los Gigantes run: roughly two hours out, an hour under the cliffs and at Masca bay, then two hours back, leaving time for a proper swim and lunch. If you only book one charter in Tenerife, book this one.

8 hours. The same route with time to stop rather than pass through. Longer anchor stops for snorkelling and paddle boarding, a slower lunch on board, and the option to stay out for sunset. It also opens up the crossing towards La Gomera on request, weather permitting.

Where the yacht sails

The route north from Puerto Colón follows the west coast past La Caleta, Armeñime and Playa Paraíso before reaching the cliffs. The Los Gigantes cliffs are a basalt wall rising up to 600 metres directly out of the Atlantic along the coast of Santiago del Teide; the Guanches called them the Wall of Hell. From a 12-metre yacht sitting a few hundred metres off the rock face, the scale reads very differently than it does from the viewpoint at Archipenque.

Masca bay sits at the mouth of the Masca gorge, reachable by boat or on foot down the ravine. The anchorage there is calm on most days and the water is deep and clear.

The whole crossing runs through the Teno-Rasca marine strip, protected as a Special Area of Conservation under Natura 2000 since 2011, which is why the crew keeps to the speed and approach rules that apply to every boat in the zone. Dolphins and turtles are sometimes seen from the deck along the way. This is not a whale watching trip, though: the Pampano does not go looking for cetaceans, and if that is your main reason for going out, book a dedicated whale watching trip with a spotter on board instead.

Departure and getting there

Boarding is at Puerto Colón in Costa Adeje. There is paid parking at the marina and taxi access at the entrance. Arrive 15 minutes before your agreed departure time: the berth slot is not flexible, and a late group eats into its own charter rather than the next one.

Extras

The charter can be extended beyond the standard format: a private chef on board, premium spirits and champagne, a jet ski stop, or an overnight stay on the yacht for a special occasion. These are confirmed case by case with the operator, so ask before booking rather than on the pontoon.

Cancellation and weather

Cancel or move your booking free of charge up to 4 days before departure. Inside 4 days the deposit is not refundable. If the crew cancels for sea conditions, you choose between a new date and a full refund. Skippers here do call trips off, particularly when the northeast trade winds push swell down the west coast in winter, and that call is theirs alone.

Frequently asked questions

Up to 8 guests plus crew. The charter is priced per boat, not per person, so a group of 8 pays the same as a couple.
Around 2 hours each way. That is why the 3-hour charter does not reach the cliffs, and why the 6-hour one is the shortest that does.
Three hours for a short private trip along the Armeñime coast with a swim stop. Six hours for the standard Los Gigantes and Masca run. Eight hours for the same route with time to stop properly, and sunset on request.
Unlimited soft drinks, beer, wine and cava on every charter, with snacks on the shorter trips and a full meal on the longer ones.
Stand-up paddle boards, snorkel masks and snorkelling gear, all included whichever charter length you book. There is also a Bluetooth sound system you control from your own phone.
Free cancellation or date change up to 4 days before departure. Inside 4 days the deposit is not refundable. If the crew calls the trip off for sea conditions, you choose between a new date and a full refund.

Nothing had prepared me for it. Every moment and every detail was handled by a kind, warm crew; the charcuterie was first rate, the fruit had just been cut and the paella was outstanding. I left with my batteries full.

We came to Tenerife for a friend's big birthday and spent an incredible day on the yacht. Captain Luis and Francisco looked after us, the food was delicious and beautifully presented, and there was always another drink coming. If you want something out of the ordinary, this is it.

We had several options to choose from, but we opted for this one based on a friend's experience, and it truly was worth every penny.

The first thing I felt when I got on board was the positive atmosphere and the great vibes—it was the best part of my vacation. I also want to highlight that the food was a special touch that enhanced the wonderful journey.

A boat trip to remember. Francisco and Milagros could not have been kinder or more helpful: a lovely route, good food, music, and a stop for a swim at the end.

A magnificent yacht with a very friendly crew. We were served a small buffet of champagne, wine, cheese, charcuterie and fruit, then took a lovely trip out where we came across turtles and went snorkelling. I would recommend it.
