Boat excursions and whale watching in Tenerife

The waters between Tenerife and La Gomera are home to around 500 resident short-finned pilot whales and 250 bottlenose dolphins. Sighting rates on whale watching trips are close to 100% for pilot whales and over 70% for dolphins, making this one of the best places in the world for cetacean watching.

Boat excursions depart daily from Puerto Colón (Costa Adeje) and Los Cristianos harbour. Options include large catamarans like the Freebird One and the Royal Delfin, smaller sailboats for a quieter experience, and fishing trips. Most excursions last 2 to 4 hours and include a swimming stop in a sheltered bay.

Private boat hire Tenerife

If you’d rather have a boat to yourself, we offer private yacht and catamaran charters along the Costa Adeje coastline. Choose your own route, set your own pace, and bring your own group. Boats range from small motorboats to luxury yachts with crew and catering. We also have self-drive boat hire for licensed skippers.

Guided tours and things to do in Tenerife

Our guided tours cover both the south and north of the island:

Teide National Park tours. Bus tours and jeep tours to Spain’s highest peak (3,718 m), including crater visits, sunset and stargazing trips, and the option to ride the cable car to near the summit. The Teide guided bus tour is one of our most popular options.

North Tenerife tours. Guided bus trips covering La Laguna (UNESCO World Heritage), the Anaga mountains, Icod de los Vinos (home to the ancient Drago Milenario tree), and Garachico’s volcanic rock pools.

Jeep tours. Off-road trips to Masca, the Teno mountains, and other areas that are difficult to reach by public transport.

Quad and buggy safaris. The Teide Quad Safari and buggy tours take you through the volcanic landscape above the coast. Both are among our best sellers.

Tandem paragliding. Fly over the south coast with a qualified instructor. No experience needed. Views of the coastline, the ocean, and on clear days, La Gomera.

Horse riding. Rides through the rural interior of Tenerife, above the resort areas.

Theme park tickets Tenerife

Buy theme park tickets in advance and skip the queue:

Siam Park. Regularly voted the world’s best water park. Heated pools and wave pool at 24°C year-round, Thai-inspired design, and slides for all ages. Located in Costa Adeje, next to Siam Mall. Book Siam Park tickets.

Loro Parque. In Puerto de la Cruz, north Tenerife. Zoo and marine park with orca shows, penguin exhibits, a large aquarium, and over 350 parrot species. A full day out, especially for families. Book Loro Parque tickets.

Aqualand Costa Adeje. Water park with a dolphinarium. Popular with families.

Jungle Park (Las Águilas). Birds of prey shows, sea lion displays, and a jungle setting near Arona.

Water sports in Tenerife

The south coast of Tenerife is sheltered from the trade winds, which means calm sea conditions for water sports year-round. We offer:

Jet ski tours along the Costa Adeje coastline. Kayaking with sea turtles in the sheltered bays near Los Cristianos and La Caleta. Parasailing, flyboarding, and stand-up paddleboarding. Scuba diving at volcanic reef sites with good visibility.

Water temperatures range from 18 to 19°C in winter to 23 to 24°C in September and October.
