🛥️ Pampano yacht charter in Tenerife

Pampano is a 12 metre private yacht based at Puerto Colón, in Costa Adeje. It carries a maximum of 8 guests and sails 3 to 8 hours a day, always as a full private yacht charter. There is no shared deck and no fixed departure timetable: you agree the start time with the crew when you book. Food, drinks, paddle boards and snorkel gear are included in every charter length.

Pampano is a private 12 metre yacht chartered from Puerto Colón in Costa Adeje, Tenerife, for up to 8 guests, with trips of 3, 6 or 8 hours and food and drinks included.

  • Maximum 8 guests per charter, private hire only
  • Departure from Puerto Colón, Costa Adeje
  • Sailing time from Puerto Colón to the Los Gigantes cliffs is roughly 2 hours each way
  • Los Gigantes cliffs rise up to 600 metres straight out of the water
  • The route crosses the Teno-Rasca marine strip, a Natura 2000 Special Area of Conservation since 2011
  • Paddle boards, snorkel gear, food and unlimited soft drinks, beer, wine and cava included

Chartered through CanaryVIP and operated by a multilingual crew based in Costa Adeje, year round.

What is included in the Pampano yacht charter

Every Pampano charter comes with the same core inclusions, regardless of how long you book:

  • Unlimited soft drinks, beer, wine and cava
  • Snacks on shorter trips, a full meal on the longer ones
  • Stand-up paddle boards
  • Snorkel masks and snorkelling gear
  • Bluetooth sound system you control from your own phone
  • A multilingual crew

The deck is split between an open sunbathing area at the bow and a shaded lounge at the stern, which matters more than it sounds when the charter runs past midday and the wind drops.

3, 6 or 8 hours: which Pampano boat charter to book

Pampano runs three standard yacht charter lengths out of Puerto Colón, and they are not interchangeable.
The honest version: the sailing time decides this, not the marketing.

3 hours. Puerto Colón to La Caleta and the Armeñime coast, with a swim stop in a sheltered bay and drinks on board. This is the right length if you want a short private trip and you are back in time for dinner. It does not reach Los Gigantes. Anyone telling you otherwise is selling you a boat ride to nowhere, because the cliffs are around 2 hours away in each direction.

6 hours. The standard Los Gigantes run. Roughly 2 hours out, an hour under the cliffs and at Masca bay, then 2 hours back, leaving time for a proper swim and lunch. If you only book one charter in Tenerife, book this one.

8 hours. The same route with time to stop rather than pass through. Longer anchor stops for snorkelling and paddle boarding, a slower lunch on board, and the option to stay out for sunset. It also opens up the crossing towards La Gomera on request, weather permitting.

🗺️ Where the yacht sails: Los Gigantes, Masca and the Teno-Rasca strip

The route north from Puerto Colón follows the west coast of Tenerife past La Caleta, Armeñime and Playa Paraíso before reaching the cliffs.

The Los Gigantes cliffs are a basalt wall that rises up to 600 metres directly out of the Atlantic along the coast of Santiago del Teide. The Guanches called them the Wall of Hell. From a 12 metre yacht sitting a few hundred metres off the rock face, the scale reads very differently than it does from the viewpoint at Archipenque.

Masca bay sits at the mouth of the Masca gorge, reachable by boat or on foot down the ravine. The anchorage there is calm on most days and the water is deep and clear.

The whole crossing runs through the Teno-Rasca marine strip, protected as a Special Area of Conservation under the Natura 2000 network since 2011 and certified in 2021 by the World Cetacean Alliance as the first Whale Heritage Site in Europe. A resident colony of short-finned pilot whales lives here year round, alongside resident bottlenose dolphins and around twenty other cetacean species that pass through. Sightings on a charter are common but never guaranteed, and the crew has to keep the legal approach distance and speed like every other boat in the zone. If watching cetaceans is your main reason for going out, a dedicated whale watching trip with a spotter on board is the better buy.

📍 Departure from Puerto Colón

Boarding is at Puerto Colón in Costa Adeje. There is paid parking at the marina and taxi access at the entrance. Arrive 15 minutes before your agreed departure time, because the berth slot is not flexible and a late group eats into its own charter, not the next one.

🥂 Extras you can add on this private yacht charter

The charter can be extended beyond the standard format. A private chef on board, premium spirits and champagne, a jet ski stop, or an overnight stay on the yacht for a special occasion. These are confirmed case by case with the operator, so ask us before booking rather than on the pontoon.

📜 Cancellation and weather policy

Cancel or move your booking free of charge up to 4 days before departure. Inside 4 days the deposit is not refundable.

If the crew cancels for sea conditions, you choose between a new date and a full refund. Skippers here do call trips off, particularly when the northeast trade winds push swell down the west coast in winter, and that call is theirs alone.

🧳 What to bring on board

  • Your CanaryVIP ticket, on your phone or printed
  • Swimwear, a towel and reef-safe sun cream
  • Soft-soled shoes or bare feet, no black soles on deck
  • A light meal beforehand and not much alcohol, which is the single best defence against seasickness
  • A layer for the return leg, since the wind picks up in the afternoon

Pampano yacht charter FAQ

How many people can the Pampano yacht take?
Up to 8 guests plus crew. The Pampano yacht charter is priced per boat, not per person, so a group of 8 pays the same as a couple.

How long does it take to sail to Los Gigantes from Puerto Colón?
Around 2 hours each way. That is why the 3 hour charter stays on the Costa Adeje coast and only the 6 and 8 hour options reach the cliffs.

Can you see whales and dolphins from the yacht?
Often, yes. The route crosses the Teno-Rasca strip, home to a year-round population of short-finned pilot whales and bottlenose dolphins. Nobody can guarantee a sighting, and the crew must respect the approach rules that apply inside the protected area.

Is food included?
Yes. Shorter charters include snacks, longer ones include a full meal. Soft drinks, beer, wine and cava are unlimited on every charter. Tell us about allergies and dietary requirements when you book so the crew can shop accordingly.

Can I choose my departure time?
Yes, within the marina’s operating hours and subject to berth availability. Morning starts are calmer, late afternoon starts give you the light on the cliffs.

What happens if the weather is bad?
The crew monitors conditions and cancels if it is not safe. You then pick between rescheduling and a full refund.

Can the yacht sail to La Gomera?
On request, and only on the 8 hour charter with settled conditions. The crossing needs the full day, so it replaces the Los Gigantes route rather than adding to it.

Do I need a boat licence?
No. Pampano is a skippered charter, so the licensed crew handles the yacht throughout.

Is it suitable for children?
Yes, and a private charter is easier with small children than a shared catamaran, since there is no crowd, no fixed schedule and you can turn back early if it stops being fun. Life jackets in children’s sizes should be requested when booking.

Can we play our own music?
Yes. The sound system pairs with your phone by Bluetooth.

How far in advance should I book?
For July and August, and for the Christmas and Easter weeks, two to three weeks ahead. Outside those periods a few days is usually enough, though weekends go first.

  8. We had several options to choose from, but we opted for this one based on a friend’s experience, and it truly was worth every penny.

  9. The first thing I felt when I got on board was the positive atmosphere and the great vibes—it was the best part of my vacation. I also want to highlight that the food was a special touch that enhanced the wonderful journey.
