Pesca en Tenerife a bordo del Happy Hooker
El Happy Hooker es un catamarán de pesca deportiva que faena desde Puerto Colón, en Costa Adeje. El casco de catamarán es la clave: dos cascos se mantienen mucho más estables que un monocasco del mismo tamaño, y en un día con algo de oleaje eso marca la diferencia entre pescar de verdad y agarrarse a la barandilla. El barco fue restaurado en 2019 y lleva motores gemelos de 315 CV.
Dos salidas al día
Las salidas son a diario a las 09:00 y a las 13:30, así que la pesca encaja con el resto de sus vacaciones en lugar de ocuparlas por completo. Puede unirse a una salida compartida, ocupando una de hasta ocho cañas, o reservar todo el barco en privado por entre cuatro y ocho horas.
Quién les lleva
El capitán Jamie Hinson pesca en esta costa desde los años 80 y lleva el barco como charter desde 2009, con un marinero a su lado. Ese nivel de conocimiento local es lo que decide adónde va el barco una mañana determinada, y no es algo que una carta náutica pueda sustituir.
Qué hay a bordo
Cañas, carretes, equipo, cebo y señuelos están incluidos, y la licencia de pesca de Canarias, el combustible y las tasas están todos cubiertos en el precio. Bebidas y aperitivos están a bordo. Las comidas no están incluidas, así que traiga el almuerzo en una salida larga.
Qué puede pescar
El sur de Tenerife tiene aguas profundas muy cerca de tierra, así que las especies de altura se alcanzan en un trayecto corto. Atún y dorada aparecen en la mitad más cálida del año, y el marlín azul aparece en el punto álgido del verano. Nada está garantizado, que es lo que hace que sea pesca.

We are just back from the fishing trip and would go out with Jay, Albert and the Spanish skipper again without thinking twice. A catch is never guaranteed, though the odds are good, and we have just eaten part of what we brought in.
A superb, well-equipped boat and easy to deal with. The crew treated my eleven-year-old son like royalty, and he even landed a tuna. A day we will not forget.

My husband landed a tuna on our honeymoon and was over the moon. I had never fished before and could have used more help, so I would say the boat suits people with some experience; I gave up after the bait fishing and sat out front in the sun. Water, juice and beer were included.
I have been going out with Jamie most years for about a decade, first on my own, then with my eldest. This time we took a private charter so my six-year-old could try sea fishing, and it worked out perfectly: Jamie's son Jay and Christian took us out.

A father and son run this boat and they genuinely do their best to make the trip a good one. We brought in several tuna. Worth doing.

The people on board were friendly and helpful and everything ran smoothly. We fished for herring first and then for the bigger ones; we managed to land one and put it back in the sea. Next time we are in Tenerife we will go out with them again.
